Vasquez is co-author, with Elizabeth “Betita” Martinez, of Viva La Raza! (1974) and is currently working on a sweeping history of the women of La Raza from indigenous times to the present. Her writings in El Grito del Norte focus on issues of racism, sexism, imperialism, and poverty, issues that remain pressing today. She will be joined by Lorena Oropeza (History, UC Davis) and Dionne Espinoza (Chicano Studies, CSULA), co-editors of Enriqueta Vasquez and the Chicano Movement: Writings from El Grito del Norte (Hispanic Civil Rights Series, Arte Publico Press Books).
